Abstract
The purpose of this study was to ascertain the validity of age determinations using otoliths of jack mackerel. The study consisted of two parts: (1)otoliths were examined for seasonal changes in the hyaline and opaque zones at the edges of otoliths and (2)a dominant year class was followed through consecutive years noting marginal zone changes.
